I’m an Irish writer who has carved a career out of a lifelong obsession with food and words.
As restaurant critic for Food and Wine Magazine I’ve served as a judge at their national awards and spent more than five years traversing the country on their behalf, visiting dozens of restaurants, hotels and cafés along the way.
A former newspaper editor, I’ve also contributed to a range of publications, including The Journal, The Irish Times, the Irish Independent, Easy Food Magazine, Confetti Magazine, and Georgina Campbell’s Restaurant Guides. A brief sample of some of my journalism work can be found here. I’m a graduate of the MA in Creative Writing from University of Limerick, a member of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild and a current student of Irish Food Culture in UCC.
During my time at UL, I developed a deep appreciation for the exceptional food writing that exists within literature, especially in the Irish tradition. I’ve gone on to specialise in the subject, presenting ‘Literary Brunches’, offering others the chance to explore the symbiotic relationship between food and literature, while enjoying delicious bites inspired by famous writers. I’m also co-founder of a boutique content marketing agency, Wordsmiths, which specialises in journalism, digital content and corporate communications. We have provided copy for many clients across a range of sectors, including The Condé Nast Group, Bustle Media, Brown Thomas, Arnotts, Four Seasons Hotels, Yankee Candles, Marks and Spencer and many more.
